New to the store – tons of cool Mimobots, now in 8GB. Einstein, Bruce Lee, Uglydolls, Superman, and loads of new Star Wars characters!

As always, each Mimobot comes pre-loaded with digital goodies based on the character: Screen savers, icons and more.

All available at $22 each.

Another discovery from FanExpo, Mike Maydak is a Cincinnati-based artist.

Although best known for cityscapes, he has recently got the pop-culture-icon bug and started doing these great paintings of superheores and sci-fi characters. He admits he’s not a big comics buff, and so is often drawn to some of the lesser-known, quirky characters like Doctor Strange or Modok.

Whether it’s the big guns (like Batman) or the second-stringers (like Dr. Who’s Cybermen) they all look fantastic after the Maydak treatment!

A great selcetion of canvas prints now available in the store!

We’ve now got some of their amazing Zombies vs. Schoolgirls (figures and mini-comics) Christmas cards, candles, and sculptures in the shop.  Plus, their great graphic novel/children’s book “Beware of Frog.” Awesome stuff by awesome people.

This year,  I was there for one reason and one reason only:  to find some übercool art for the shop! The show did not disappoint.  I was able to chat with dozens of really cool and talented illustrators and artists working in every medium: digital, drawing, painting, crochet, sculpture… and they were almost all Ontario-based. From Goderich to Waterloo – who’d have thought I would have to go to Toronto to find so many great artists from the London area?

I’m excited to bring some of this amazing stuff in to London in the weeks to come. Meanwhile, here’s a little taste of the variety of awesome prints you can now find in the shop!

Liam does some amazing lineart illustration, but these geometrics are what really caught my eye. The style would be great on its own, but when combined with the subjects below, it becomes over-the-top awesome.

As much as I love the straight-up portraits of the Star Wars icons, the Superman piece “Man Up” uses more dramatic composition to make an icon into something even greater.

Liam’s work can be found in the store in both 8″x10″ prints and on skins for iPhone4.

The Toronto-based venture sponsors the production of comics, books, prints, T-shirts and more by an amazing range of emerging artists, with an emphasis on Canadian talent. Even if you’re not into mainstream comics, you will be amazed at the variety and quality of art in compilations like Root Rot, which debuted at the recent Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF) and features artists including Londoner Jesse Jacobs.

Another standout is Spotting Deer, which won a Doug Wright Award for its creator Michael DeForge:

A huge thanks to Diana Tamblyn, who was good enough to bring back a treasure trove of Koyama product from TCAF for the store, and this weekend is your first chance to get a look.  Bookmarks, buttons, prints, photobooks and more.

…or at least the bits of the world that see your phone, anyhow.

Skins are thin, easy-to-remove, vinyl decals for customizing your mobile phone. Skins are made from a patented 3M material that eliminates air bubbles for easy application.

Featured artists include Liam Brazier, Purple Cactus, and Danny Haas.
