We’re proud to be hosting the first London exhibit of works by acclaimed illustrator Antony Hare.

Antony specializes in mostly black & white line-based illustration. His portaits of actors, directors, and literary figures have been featured in the New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and the New York Times.

Although his work looks like it was created using traditional pen and ink, Antony developed his own unique vector inking style in 1999 using his second-hand Wacom tablet and Adobe Illustrator. His signature teardrop process is the deceptively simple task of drawing dark and light vector brush strokes to sculpt infinitely-resizable graphic art. It more closely resembles ink than it does typical vector art.

The show runs until June 1st, and features rare and limited edition framed work, as well as prints from $20.

UPDATE: We’re looking for donations of “little things”. Got a junk drawer or shoebox full of things like: Buttons, Paperclips, Stickers. lost lego bits…. If you have some stuff to spare, drop it off at the store!

On this special night of art, lights and music, Über Cool Stuff is hoping to do something awesomely ridiculous (or is that ridiculously awesome?)

The good crew at Geek & Sundry promoted March 30th as International Tabletop Day – a celebration of gaming for everyone who’s into it and everyone who wants to be!

Tabletop After Hours!

Affter the doors closed for the day, we re-opened at 6:00 for an evening of after-hours gaming goodness!

35 people showed up, many of whom were new to the store. Lots of people got to try games they had never played before, and everyone had good time.  People enjoyed a Zombie Dice Roll-off for some freebies (Congrats to Chris who won with a streak of 11!)

We will definitely be doing this again (or something like it!)

The best 200 figure skaters in the world, from over 50 different countries will compete at the International Skating Union (ISU) World Figure Skating Championships from March 11-17, 2013 at the Budweiser Gardens in London.

For Londoners, even if you’re not going to the Worlds, downtown London will be hopping with a light show nightly at 8:00 and 9:10 and music and dance performances through the afternoons and evening in Covent Market Square.

Two great new shops have popped up at 122 Dundas!

Jackpot Vintage offers quality vintage clothing from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Also featuring handmade jewelry by CandyDice.

Heist features mid-century modern, retro and industrial furniture and accessories.

Both have joined us at 122 Dundas for a ”pop up shop”  concept for three months.  We’re also currently featuring original art by nik harron. All three shops are open Saturdays 10-5 and Tuesday-Friday 10-6.

On February 16th, Über Cool Stuff is getting some great company to share our space.

Fans from The Met will remember JackPot Vintage for their awesome selection of high-quality vintage fashions for women and men.  You know that feeling when you find the perfect blast from the past? Jackpot!

If you’ve been through Wortley Village on a Saturday, you may have stumbled across Heist: a fantastic blend of reclaimed industrial and mid-century furnishings and accents.

Heist and JackPot will be popping up at 122 Dundas for a three-month experiment to see how much cool we can cram into one location.

The success of Sculpture Culture in November told us you love your vinyls, so we wanted to make sure to keep the momentum going.

Despite some nasty-cold January weather, our first Vinyl Toy Night here at the store brought out some seasoned collectors, curious newbies, and a bunch of custom/DIY artists as well.

We were treated to Ian Dufton’s latest labour of love, a meticulously detailed Munny based on the 2013 film version of Spider-Man. The sculpted featured translucent eyes, magnetic-articulated arms, a diorama display box and more.

Kozik fans were delighted to see the new Deadly Sins Labbit series had arrived. A couple sets of David Horvath’s Choco & Minty were popular trading fodder, and Dunny lovers were able to fill in some gaps in their collections as well.

What does this mean for the store?

I’m sad to see Patricia go! She has been a great friend and neighbour. Über Cool Stuff would not exist in its present form if Patricia had not put her trust and faith in me.
